COAR Mission Statement: "The Central Oregon Assocation of REALTORS exists to enhance its members' ability and opportunity to operate successfully in all real estate markets, through professional standards, educational services, information networks, and collective community and political influence. We are the Voice of Real Estate for Central Oregon."
REALTOR® Trademark
The term REALTOR® is a registered collective membership mark that may be used by real estate professionals who are members of the National Association of REALTORS®. As a member of COAR, REALTORS® may use the term and logo, which distinguishes them from non-members; customers and clients will know that their REALTOR® adheres to a strict Code of Ethics.
Programs and Activities
Quarterly membership meetings and education sessions are open to the members, with speakers addressing issues of interest to the industry, as well as local developments or real estate practices. Educational opportunities are available to increase the REALTOR® knowledge and earn credit toward license renewal, and social functions such as golf tournaments, picnics, holiday parties are scheduled throughout the year.
REALTOR® Family Designations
The NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® and its affiliated Institutes, Societies, and Councils provide a wide-range of programs and services that assist members in increasing skills, proficiency, and knowledge. Designations and certifications acknowledging experience and expertise in various real estate sectors are awarded by NAR and each affiliated group upon completion of required courses. Click here to view the Family of Designations.
Political and Government Affairs
The Association meets monthly with local government officials and participates in the development of local and state legislative issues. Opposition to undue governmental action, or support of issues positive to the real estate industry and private property ownership are voiced by the Association on behalf of our industry, and the experience and resources of our membership are offered to the community when appropriate.
Newsletter
Each month the COARnerstone is sent to each member of the Association and provided electronically on this website. Watch for it...not only does it announce the various membership meetings and education opportunities, it will keep you up-to-date on new legislative issues, rules and regulations, social events, MLS updates, and a potpourri of other information.
COAR Orientation
Every new REALTOR® member of COAR must attend a six hour orientation class covering Code of Ethics, real estate agency, contracts, and general real estate practices. This must be completed within the first two times offered, or within the first six months of membership. The $25 orientation fee paid when the member joins COAR will be refunded at completion of course.
Education Club
For $25 per year COAR members can join the COAR Education Club. Education Club members may then attend all COAR sponsored education for a reduced fee, and in many cases for no additional charge. Dates and times of sessions are posted monthly in the newsletter and on the MLS Welcome Page.
COAR Forms
Forms designed by Oregon Real Estate Forms, partially owned by the Oregon Association of REALTORS® are available for purchase through COAR. Earnest Money Agreements, Addendums, etc. are all available and are often purchased by the Principal Broker for use in the office.
